COACHING TEAM
A note from The Head Coach
There is a plan…
Believe it or not each training session forms part of a plan. For all squads this is primarily aimed at ensuring all swimmers can develop great skills and great technique in all four strokes in preparation for competing. However, even though great skills & technique are at the forefront of each training session, it is important to build a great engine so that the swimmers can work harder for longer in preparation for all events.
Swimmers will build the engine throughout the season, September – July, so that by the end they should find they are at their “fittest”. The aim of the plan is to help prepare and achieve both the competition and training objectives for the relevant squad, as set out in the squad criteria. Each swimmer will have their individual competitive goal, but the focus is towards Regional Championships, County Championships, and team selection for League galas.
The plan is, however, simply that. It’s put together by the coaching team to enable each swimmer in every squad to have the opportunity to achieve their best during each stage of their development. Ultimately it is the responsibility of each swimmer to achieve their best through commitment to the sessions available and their focus during each of those sessions. I’m a true believer that “practice makes permanent”. If swimmers regularly turn up to ALL the training sessions available to them and then fully focus during each of those sessions, the opportunity to be at consistently at their best is much greater than for those swimmers who only commit to a few of their sessions and then approach training half-heartedly.
The journey can by challenging and arduous, with many bumps to navigate. If you can trust the coaching team and the plan, hopefully the journey will be smoother and more enjoyable!

Kyle Frantzeskou
Head Coach
I've been involved in swimming since my Dad threw me into a pool at 6 weeks old. I swam competitively until I was 15/16 and then naturally moved onto the pool deck, working as a lifeguard & swimming teacher.
It wasn't until my mid 20s that I found coaching, but I immediately enjoyed working with competitive athletes. I've coached with a variety of elite clubs over 10 years, until I decided to take a career break and concentrate on travelling & more recently family life.
Once I saw ADSC were advertising for a Head Coach, it just felt the time right to try to step back into swimming and thankfully the club offered me the role.
I'm super excited to become part of the ADSC team and fill my lungs full of chlorine again.

Kerry King
Coach For All
I started swimming around the age of 10 with Wycombe and am still going now with Aylesbury Masters and still competing every now and then!
I have been part of ADSC now for over 12 years and cover quite a lot of roles throughout it. Coaching wise I help out across the squads.
I teach swimming most days of the week including beginners and adults. I just love a swimming pool!

Heather Fowler
Assisstant Coach
I've been a member of ADSC since I was 11 and still enjoy training with the masters, competing, coaching and occasionally officiating and my favourite strokes are butterfly and freestyle.
My main coaching role is with the junior squads and I get immense satisfaction from watching their improvement both in swimming technique but also in their confidence and enjoyment of the sport.
I am also involved with supporting Kyle in coaching the other squads.

Jo Redwood
Masters
I competed as a child, teen, young adult - then discovered Masters swimming when I moved to Aylesbury over 24 years ago. I can’t honestly remember at what point I became the rep for the group, but I love preparing sets and organising social events (!) for the incredibly, friendly bunch. I’m really not a fan of breaststroke - I love front crawl, particularly pull sets. But take note - kicking should never be included in a warm-up! That’s usually when you’ll find me chatting to other swimmers …!
I really enjoy coaching the club’s younger swimmers - it’s challenging but rewarding. I’m immensely proud to be part of this exceptional club.
Oh and I do love smelling of chlorine!

Chris Waller
Coach For All
My swim coaching career started a few years ago when I decided that rather than watching my 3 children train, I wanted to be a part of the club and help. Having never swam competitively, it was a leap in to the unknown. Coaching football helped me transition quickly and support from the great coaches we have at the club enabled me to start progressing our swimmers.
Coaching is one of the most rewarding things I have done and really enjoy seeing the progress all swimmers make even if they don't PB. The smile on their face after a race that is a pleasure to see. Some may come back disappointed but I will always find the positive to give them the confidence to do it again.
Volunteering is so rewarding and we need more of you to get involved with the club in any capacity otherwise we cannot offer all the swimmers the opportunities to swim and compete.
