ADSC congratulates:
Young Games Makers
Following a successful application, a team from ADSC was invited to attend the
3 hour Young Games Makers Selection Event at the London 2012 Head Office in Canary Wharf in December,
where Kathy and Lorna Jeffrey were interviewed as team leaders and the team took part in two activities
to test communication skills, problem solving ability and ability to work under pressure and were required
to demonstrate a knowledge of aquatics and a keen interest in sport.
ADSC is delighted to announce that they were successful and have been selected to be Athlete Kit Team Members
for Aquatics at the Paralympic Games where they will be responsible for carrying athletes kit baskets and equipment
to and from the pool.
The team consists of:
Team Leaders - Kathy Jeffrey and Lorna Jeffrey
Young Games Makers - Hannah Morgan, Krishan Pandya, Alex Brown, Ellie Man, Grace Youell, Nicole Bignell, Holly Curl,
Emily Sansom, Dan Morgan and Andy Lyall.
Kathy said " We really did not know what to expect, but felt very privileged to have got that far and went there full
of enthusiasm and with the intention of enjoying ourselves. It was an amazing experience and I was so proud of how
the team performed. To hear a few days later that we had been chosen to play a part in the Paralympic Games was just
fantastic, particularly with the club being so closely linked with Stoke Mandeville Stadium where it all began."
Security checks will now be carried out and training begins on February 12th - Orientation Training, Role Training and
Venue Training. Test Event training will follow and the team will be practicing their role at the Aquatics Test Event,
the British Swimming Championships, at the Olympic Park in March.
In April they will collect their official Young Games Makers uniforms and Accreditation Passes.
As well as taking part in the British Swimming Championships, the team will be helping at various international events
being held at Stoke Mandeville Stadium during the year in order to gain as much experience as possible of large events.
