All round talent To feature on this page, submit your stories of achievements away from the pool to webmaster@adsc.org.uk ADSC congratulates: Lauren Hall Last weekend, on the 8th and 9th May I competed in the County Championships as part of the Vale of Aylesbury Athletics Club competing in 100m and 200m event. We had an early start with heats in morning at Oxford before waiting to hear if we had made it into the final. Saturday was the 100m event in which I got a silver medal having just missed out for the gold by a photo finish running a 12.8s PB. Sunday came and there was a nice tail wind so i got into my blocks and managed to smash my PB in the heats as fastest qualifier, before smashing it in the final again running 26.42s winning by a few strides so I collected my gold medal as county champion! The atmosphere was incredible and thanks to my amazing coaches I am now two tenths of a second of national and English schools times shall be looking foward to competing in the southern champs in a couple of weeks for more PBs! Lauren Hall Eoghan St John Forbes, Daniel Lindars, Ben Lindars, Eliza Taswell-Fryer and Harpers/ADSC Academy swimmer Jemima Taswell-Fryer In the recent inter schools cross country competition gold medals were won by Eliza (year 6), Eoghan (year 5) and Jemima (Year 4) and silver medals by Daniel (year 6) and Ben (year 3). Holly and Edward Curl (and Kalpana!) On the 1st November me, my brother Edward and my mum travelled to Northampton to take the assessment for our Black Belts in Karate. We have been doing Shotokan Karate for six years and have taken 17 grading exams during this period. We had undergone some intense training in the months leading up to the big day. After a one hour written exam and four hours of a practical examination we were congratulated and told we had passed. We were exhausted yet happy. Our karate licenses were stamped, dated and signed by the head of TISKA (Traditional International Shotokan Karate Association). It was a day we will never forget and we are very proud of what we have achieved. However it doesn’t stop at Black Belt! – We are currently 1st Dans and are now working towards 2nd Dan. Holly Curl Kieran and Daniel Lindars We both did 3 triathlons this year and did very well. The first was at Swindon where we both won our age groups. Next we travelled to Kings Langley and I came 2nd (by 15 seconds) and Daniel came 3rd. The following weekend was the most competitive, with triathlon clubs coming from all over London but I came 2nd (only by 7 seconds) and Daniel again came 3rd. In the swim Daniel's distance is 200m and mine is 300m, although it is the smallest in distance of the 3 disciplines it is the stamina from the swimming training that helps to get me to the end of the whole triathlon.
