2009 - Celebrating 75 years of service to swimming Founded in 1934, ADSC is a thriving club with a long established history. The club is affiliated to the Oxon and North Bucks County and South East Region ASA. We cater for swimmers of all levels of ability from 5 year old non-swimmers to those who compete at high level. We have an extremely successful Masters section for swimmers over the age of 19. We provide swimming instruction of a high standard thanks to our Club Coach Rob Sawers, Coaches Cliff Christie, Andy Willis and Roger Barton and our team of experienced and dedicated volunteer teachers, who all work hard to ensure that swimmers receive the best possible tuition. Swimmers are not pressured and are able to progress at their chosen pace. Young swimmers are offered up to three sessions per week, giving them and their parents the choice whether to progress quickly by attending all of them or more gradually by attending one or two. As they progress through the club, swimmers are offered at least five training sessions per week as well as a land training programme. Most weekends will find ADSC swimmers competing either in an inter club gala or league, or in an individual open meet. For away galas the team and supporters travel by coach which is heavily subsidised by the club, with the added attraction for team members of a McDonalds stop on the way home. A range of graded competitions are entered so that swimmers of all levels of achievement are given the opportunity to represent the club. The club takes part in the National Arena Swimming, Home Counties, Chiltern and Milton Keynes Junior Leagues. In November ADSC holds its annual Club Championships in which all active members are encouraged to take part, including our beginners. Our training sessions take place at Aylesbury Grammar School, Aqua Vale, Stoke Mandeville Stadium and RAF Halton. It is our wish that the opportunity to develop swimming skills be available to all members of the community and fees are therefore kept to an absolute minimum. Annual membership is £20 and monthly training fees range from £22 for Learn to Swim to £29. Family discounts apply and we support the AVDC Passport to Leisure Scheme.
